This is the problem with crimes which take place without witnesses and leave no evidence which a lot of rape cases are. :(
Oh ok, so 'if he isn't convicted' doesn't mean 'if he's acquitted.' It includes cases that have never gone to trial at all?

Re cases that do go to trial, I'd say 50%(?) conviction rate is more indicative of the way the system works than of the facts of the matter
