One is the assumption that "dominant culture" is the problem: it may be that "exploitative industries" destroy culture's protective factors.

In which case, problems arise not because of culture's dominance but it's absence. Question then becomes the conditions of renewed culture.

But if one accepts the need for culture, then one has to say: culture = norms, so one has to accept the potential positivity of norms.

Feminism has been incapable of really dealing with such problems, because it assumes that norms should ALWAYS be critiqued and overthrown.

But the perpetual necessity for a critique of norms should not lead to the conclusion that norms are "bad": critique is road to renewal.
