This is the same with many crimes. Most of us do not steal but most of us will experience having a purse, phone, bike, car stolen.

Except for the part where the whole industry knew and did nothing. That part is a broader "cultural" problem.

The exploitative institutions I was talking abt. Like with child abuse. Some institutions got away with that but as a culture we abhor it

Blaming an "institution" is hand-waving. They are made up of people like you and me. We might not have behaved differently ourselves.

No. The catholic church minimised & covered up child-sex abuse. Wider culture abhors it above everything.

Maybe we were particularly naive young women in the 70s and 80s but it was prevalent behaviour. Obv not all men but more than enough!
