This is awful on so many levels. 1) Suggests men haven't always valued friendship. My father has had his best friend for 67 years now.https://twitter.com/rebecca_roache/status/918761793757106176 …

      2) Suggests women have the right to 100% of their partners emotional confidence & that it's suspicious if men sometimes want to talk to men.

Even tho women are understood to want to talk things through with women & it's a huge red flag if a man resents his gf's female friends.

In fact, this is one of the signs of an abusive partner - trying to isolate their partner from their friends.

Course, it doesn't advocate that but 'this will ruin your relationship' is strong motivation is accepted as true.

And it's not true. One of the best indicators of good partner potential is if the person has long-term, cherished, supportive friendships.

For some reason, young men sometimes message me & ask how to find a gf who will treat them well even tho I am no relationship counsellor.

I point this out but recommend choosing a girl who has close, longstanding, supportive, friendships. This is also the basis for relationships

You will want to respect that friendship, make your own relationship with the friend but also give it space & not force the man to choose.

It's not zero sum. People don't have less love & commitment for a partner because they also have it for friends.

I feel strongly about this coz I have a family member who will never allow her boyfriends to have friends. Feels threatened by them.
