And feminists tell us women culturally conditioned into domestic roles. Everybody worrying we're being brainwashed by dominant narratives.https://twitter.com/jordanbpeterson/status/913535049961754625 …

Young women are never informed about this. They're fed lies such as "career is primary." A more truly patriarchal claim cannot be imagined. https://twitter.com/RyanMcD81129878/status/913534097594646529 …

And the dominant narrative is always the 1 they don't like. Like 'status quo.' That's always the thing we don't like that others perpetuate

I don't agree that society is constructed by discourses & there is always one dominant one and individuals are constructed by it.

I think it clear there are several. It simply isn't true women are never told a) they can be scientists or b) they can prioritise motherhood

We're told both of these all the time as though we might not have noticed. Sarcasm can be hard to avoid in these cases.

I don't know how common it is for women to regret not having kids. I know its very common for them to be told they will.

Anecdotally, I'm in my 40s, and I wake up every day filled with joy that I have no kids. I can't imagine loving my life if I had them.

You were one of the many women I remember having said this to me & been irritated by presumptuous ppl claiming to know better.

True! But I also realize that I'm a product of my time and place, and that I have a job that fills the role of "truly meaningful."

So I realize that it might be different for others. I just think women need more open discussion of how to make those choices!

Yes, any plan around women & their choices must be about increasing their confidence to make their own, not telling them what they should be

Me too. From the perspective of fulfilment and enjoyment of life. If what fills you with joy is working in a cafe, that's your life goal.

Exactly. And you don't have to push yourself to own the cafe one day in order to have made progress in your life, either!!
