I don't know how common it is for women to regret not having pursued a career but I am told they are often told this too.

I tend to think its a human thing to have pangs of regret for paths untaken but we might not all crave the same potential paths.

Anecdotally, I'm in my 40s, and I wake up every day filled with joy that I have no kids. I can't imagine loving my life if I had them.

True! But I also realize that I'm a product of my time and place, and that I have a job that fills the role of "truly meaningful."

Me too. From the perspective of fulfilment and enjoyment of life. If what fills you with joy is working in a cafe, that's your life goal.

Exactly. And you don't have to push yourself to own the cafe one day in order to have made progress in your life, either!!
