I don't think it works as an argument for white supremacy & the fault of white people tho. I think different values underlie that pressure.

yes in the Arab world they're very much where we were when fair skin was a sign of nobility and being upper class.pre dates our influence.

Yes. The west still has a way to go with racism but I don't think it can be blamed for racism or favouring of light skin elsewhere.

Hollywood plus beauty/fashion trends being led mostly by the west is also having a huge effect now too though. It's definitely complex.
