a guy starts explaining something to me that I'm clearing knowledgeable about & doesn't stop when I say things like, 'yes, I know' or...

There's this excellent video, I wish I could find it again, of a trans man explaining male privilege and one of the examples he gives
-
is that women started to defer to him, even on the dumbest things. One time two female friends' watches were showing different times. He
-
glanced at his watch & said, "I've got 4.15" & the conversation stopped & they just went with the time he'd said, like it must be correct.
-
He noticed this happening time and again, as soon as he transitioned enough to read as male to most people.
-
But we all read these. There was one going round by a trans man who said how much easier men were to talk to & how he valued simplifying.
-
That doesn't seem relevant to the topic. What's your point?
-
That he found he got shut down less by men. I'm just not convinced by anecdotal evidence. It's all so subjective.
-
Fair enough, but only as subjective as your claim that you don't see it.

There is some overlap, but the difference is that women don't nag at a man while he is in a moment of being responsible.
-
Whereas mansplaining is exactly about explaining something to a woman that she is proficient in right when she has made that clear.
