Is it coz I'm assertive & opinionated myself & difficult to talk over?

It's harder to see when you're an obvious exception to a truth that is pretty internalized for some. But it's mostly about rationality.
-
But I don't see men condescending to other women either & women keep tweeting me & saying no. Some say yes. Perhaps some environments.
-
Eh, could be lots of things. Could be where you are, or the field doesn't have the same level of competition and male dominance.
-
Yeah. My profession is female-dominated but my work for a humanist org has more men & my political-arguing circle is more male.
-
Yeah but what is your area of expertise? Many men also see women as experts in emotion, so if that's what you're arguing about...
-
Late medieval religious writing officially. I spend more time arguing for secularism, liberalism, gender equality, respect for science etc
-
And the things you argue amount mostly involve human relationships and sociological development, which are "women stuff". And lit, obviously
-
It seems to be about 75% male tho. And people keep claiming it's a old, white, man's club. And yet: https://thinklab.com/c/secularism/thought-leaders …

I would say it’s more subtle than a flat out general statement and more to do with a woman’s ability to lead. I’m in high tech and see it.
-
You do? And do you see much of women thinking men incapable of grasping things? Or is mostly a male thing?
-
It’s mostly men thinking yes she’s smart but not enough to lead a team or handle a crisis or lead an investors meeting. It’s a doubt aimed
-
More at women’s emotional stability and toughness than intelligence.
-
The women you see who end up leading are the hardest women. The “nice” ones stay pretty much in the same position.
-
And is this not the case for men? Can softies get leadership positions if they're male?
-
In comparison, yes. A man who is rather “chill”, is more likely to get a team lead position.
-
Still perceived as more assertive and capable even tho he's as soft as women being deemed unsuitable. OK. Thanks. Interesting.

It's not the only thing I do tho. I also make arguments in public forums & have a whole range of activities in real life.
