Was it a joke or was he serious?
-
He was serious. He wanted to catch up on Big Brother & judged that as the only woman on the table, I was most likely to watch it.
-
Also, awkward that he had an interest in it, given the inference? ;)
-
I think he was being self-deprecating. 'OK, I know this is girly but I like it.'

It being sexist is not contingent on whether or not you were offended. Nobody should get offended by anything.
-
But people also in most cases should not be making assumptions about individuals based on stereotypes or gender norms.
-
Why not. What about positive stereotypes and norms?
-
Those can cause you to discriminate against people who don't have those stereotypes and norms attached to them.
-
We positively discriminate all the time. You think we shouldn't bc we can also negativity discriminate?
-
I think we should aim to treat people based on how they actually are, not based on stereotypes or norms.
