We are a story-telling species & this is a very dominant way that we are inclined to process & evaluate both reality & ethics.
Yes, but I'm not disagreeing with that. It doesn't relate to my point that greater respect for reason & evidence made society advance.

I think it is very human to construct stories that are meaningful to us & to find meaning in stories but not that this constructs reality.
