It just makes it more difficult for women if men are also made paranoid &feel they must start censoring their speech/tone when talking to us

It's just not a norm for men to talk down to women & assume they're ignorant. Anyone doing this would just look like a twunt.

Many older men, at least in US, are isolated esp after divorce. Many seem to be ill-equipped to make new friends. Maybe related to this.
-
Yes, this is the argument made. They're likely to have less of an emotionally-supportive social network than women.

Many do not know how to, or are not interested in, having an actual conversation, but it isn't just when speaking to women.
-
It can often change when talking to women tho. Then men seem to feel more able to speak of feelings & relationships & explore them.

Curious how old you are. Men in my generation and older assume women don't know stuff all the time. They also treat women like they are 1/2
-
Interesting. I'm not much older than you. Oh, & it's just an anecdote, but I even had a guy say to me once, "shh, men are talking."

But why can't we just be who we were created to be? My wife tells me about her issues and because I care I try to fix them.

My husband and I mansplain things to each other all day long. LOL. It isn't a "sexism against women" thing it's a "how guys just are" thing.

YOU
DON'T
UNDERSTAND
WHAT
MANSPLAINING
IS
It isn't just another word for condescention. It's when this cond. stems from sexism. -
But if Greg or his husband were explaining things to you the way they do to each other, might you perhaps mistake it for mansplaining?
-
It'd be kinda hard, considering I'm a guy...
-
Might a woman perchance make such an error?
-
So, condescendingly expain something, to either a man or a woman, due to sexism? Yes, absolutely, if that is what you asked...
-
No, that's not what I asked. I asked if a non-sexist explanation might be mistaken for a sexist one because the explainee is a woman?
-
Yes, it can happen, though, admittedly, it is a more rare occurance.
