I don't think you know what postmodernism means tbhhttps://theoutline.com/post/2190/why-are-we-blaming-postmodernism-for-trump?utm_content=buffer20e2c&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer …

I've read your article three times. Perhaps @HPluckrose can make sense of it, but I have a hard time punching through the 'alt-facts'.

No, it doesn't really engage with the arguments of the essays which look at the postmodern shift in academia and its effect on culture.

Perhaps my take on postmodernism is influenced by JPB's take on it. I associate it with identity politics and an endless oppression story.

Yes, but there's also the epistemic relativity and denial of objective reality which he glosses over a bit coz he does that too.

Yes I noticed that in the podcast with Sam Harris. His 'get your act together' message is spot on. His fear of nihilism makes weird jumps.

Narratives and myths are fine in their place. No problem to draw meaning & morals from them. But objective truth requires evidence.

Pot and kettle in a nutshell. Perhaps his reluctance for objective truth is based on an idea that the west is in a narrative competition.

He's this kind of woolly, subjective, metaphorical thinker. I find too much regard for him a problem if we want to tackle PoMo.pic.twitter.com/xW1emDUBMt

I understand, and I appreciate you both for handing me arguments to counter pomo, even regardless of non overlapping magisteria at its core.
