I don't think the decision not to have children should be evaluated in terms of 'selfishness'.

Even aside from the whole ethical thing of individuality & freedom, this is incredibly simplistic from a purely practical point of view.

In addition to this, there is a marked tendency for moralists to justify their own selfish decisions morally including having children.
