I think it's clear that the left is losing credibility because of this. This is a major reason former lefties give for going right.
Well, whatever you call the Democrats, then. There is a reason they were not electable & 'to stick it to the liberals' features highly.

Agree on that and I think a lot of the unelectablilty is because they are centrists so don't motivate enough people on the left.

Is that the case? I saw Trump voters broken down to a lot of working class ppl but I admit, I don't know what proportion usually vote Rep.

But this is irrelevant anyway. It matters less who is voting right and more why they're not voting left & identity politics is a factor.

Society has shifted to the right by voting in the right. That was my meaning.

It has yes but it's been doing that since Thatcher not since id pol. Obviously id pol a contributing factor but it's not only salient one.
