I think so too. I suspect they come from different moral foundations. The left from #1 and the right from #3 #4 #5. (See below)https://twitter.com/christianjbdev/status/911544484617506816 …

At least, that's my guess. But I think it's plausible that left and right threats to free-speech have different motivations.

The left attack on free speech (I think) comes from an ideological shift in which words are increasingly perceived as harmful.pic.twitter.com/wq2dqqEs1l

The right attack on free speech (I suspect) comes from a different drive to uphold certain standards considered important to societal health

In addition to pomo, Marxist collectivist ideology plays a role too. Eg Marxists can't allow bourgeois or "oppressor" class freedom to speak

I very seldom meet Marxists now. The bourgeoisie are in charge of the left. It;s moved into the universities & middle class identity issues.

Anyone uttering non-approved perspectives ought be sent to the naughty corner. Soon society will be one big creche, which is their level.

I think this is right. Lots of conflation of speech with violence, prevention of unwelcome speech with provision of safety.
