I keep looking for evidence that 'society' discourages girls from STEM & tells them it's not for them. Nothing yet. I'll keep you posted.

Perhaps schools objectively select students good at the subject. For the 4th year out of 5, my English freshers are all female. How to fix?

I assume they do. It's probably the top sets which she is in. As you probably agree, not necessarily anything to fix.

Altho primary school had success getting boys reading by including more factual stuff. Consider putting some car manuals on ur reading list?

Yeah, tho I ask them all to read Sapiens now. Trouble is, prim sch reading is just literacy: minimum that everyone does. For may boys, 1/2 -
reading = 1) information or 2) entertainment. Beyond that, fewer care. Girls 'get' intrinsic value and potential more easily. Both are right
