Dave had to rescue an long-time neighbour of ours who was being misunderstood as harassing women in the supermarket.

He was doing nothing of the sort. He was doing his homework from the social skills classes he's been attending for 20 years now.

We were used to being approached & asked 'How-are-you-how-is-your-family-are-you-going-on-holiday-this-year-what-did-you-do-at-the-weekend'

The key is to just try to squeeze your answers in the very small gaps allowed. But I suspect the classes are currently focusing on dating.

And seem not to have stressed the context in which you can approach women, compliment them & ask them out. Disastrous effects. :(

Poor man. Do these ppl know who they are teaching these things to? Would be nice if they understood him & the effects it could have.pic.twitter.com/aRmxjvjVj3

I don't think they can. If they knew how his general social skills practice appears to people he approaches, they'd not have done this.

You'll be in the queue & he'll suddenly appear at your shoulder & fire questions at you. If those get romantic in nature...

I think he enjoys it! Socially! But yes, it needs to be realistic. And especially careful around dating!

It's the realistic part that bugs me. I've given social training classes. Knowing who you're teaching is half the job.
