The Harris view assumes certain basic values to start with. You can reasonably extrapolate from the assumed values.

Kind of. He believes that it needs to be a group project, doesn't he? Thinks individual reason is too inclined to psychological flaws.

don't think he does, he describes moral phenomena & trying to explain entrenched polarization, then suggests flexibility in certainties

Yes, but when he talks about reason, he says it requires lots of different ideas working with & against each other, not individual.

we do build on previous knowledge & need outside checking of premises, as a society we need sense of shared common values for it to work.

even here, he's describing, i think. also explains how non liberal shared values can work for a cohesive society with a common identity
