Yes. Being able to fight is a precaution against becoming a victim of violence but should not be a responsibility. Big time commitment.

No! I am saying that we are less sympathetic to male victims of violent crime coz of a perception they should be able to defend themselves.

Being able to fight may or may not be important given the situation. Having those skills is decidedly good. Also very attractive.
