It's not a moral responsibility if it's just concerning yourself. Nobody has a moral responsibilty to preserve their own safety or life.

No! I am saying that we are less sympathetic to male victims of violent crime coz of a perception they should be able to defend themselves.

Being able to fight may or may not be important given the situation. Having those skills is decidedly good. Also very attractive.
