Where women use an average of 20,000 words a day and men 7,000?https://twitter.com/nevynxxx/status/907611025834471424 …
Is there any suggestion why? The stereotypes that women talk too much & men are uncommunicative seems to have some validity.

I seem to recall this, or something like this, in relation to classroom discussion contributions.
-
And then something like the time women spent talking was overestimated while that of men talking was underestimated.
-
The spin placed on this was all about 'everyone thinks women talk too much while they're really being crowded out".
-
But I thought: maybe it's that in-group bias thing. Might it not be that everyone actually pays more attention when a woman is speaking?
-
Maybe or it could just be people reflecting the norm - women talk more.
-
Could be wrong, it's been a while, but I think there were recordings involved, so comparison between perception and reality was possible.
-
And that women were remembered as talking more than they actually did.

Women tend to love language more than men; men, even those who love language, tend to be pugnacious and Spartan with their words.

Can't seem to see it now from a search. That's infuriating.

I can't remember, it's a while since I saw it. Was interesting as it asked about "talk too much" too.
