Dunno. I like concept ok. Unconscious bias often causes many of us 40+ to discount women's abilities. Prob seems on decline, but still there

For that v reason, I've sought out/followed brilliant/talented women & MOC on Twitter. So I can help amplify their voices & support careers
-
Reality: ppl tend to look to folks they know & like/relate to when seeking out "expert opinion." Often, those folks are v similar to selves
-
In fields long dominated (w/in a given western country) by white men, often results in promotion of white men over more talented women/MOC
-
Ppl tend to relate more readily to, & devel friendships w/, ppl w similar background & interpersonal style - often result of similar class
-
I don't think this holds up on Twitter. Also:https://twitter.com/HPluckrose/status/907568554421182464 …

-
Yes, because I'm a sexist neanderthal who likes his guitars loud!

"Amplify X voices" quickly turns into "Mute X voices that don't fit my demagogue narrative".
