We see men accused of mansplaining for speaking directly & assertively & of unequal emotional labour for being less emotionally expressive

So much comes down to ideologically-motivated pathologising of gender differences which could be read charitably for better relationships.

Although, I am not as concerned about this in reality. I think, as a society, we are a bit too focused on accommodating women's psych needs.

In all relationships I've been verbal and my men have withdrawn, in/after arguments. I think it's more about personality than gender.

Regarding abuse or not, the big difference lies in; is he/she trying to control his/her own emotions or someone else's.
