Q1. Will the world be a better place without religion? Q2. Isn't Atheism itself a form of religion albeit a godless one?

1) All else being equal, yes. 2) Not if you define religion in the normal way as a system of beliefs usually involving a supernatural force.

Alas, all things are not equal. A religion doesn't necessarily need to have a superstitious force at the core of its principles.

I am asking how you define it so I can address your question of whether atheism fits it. Do u define it as any position on existence of God?

I can define religion in so many ways. My issue isn't with atheism but the pursuit of atheists to disparage the major religions.

OK, so when you asked 'isn't atheism itself a form of religion' what did you mean? What argument wld you make that it is?

And why mustn't atheists disparage religion by saying gods are not real? Is it OK for religion to disparage atheism by saying one is?
