From the standpoint of the non-religious certainly, from that of the religious many would disagree especially the monotheistic.
-
They can do that. Nevertheless, religion is socially variable & reflects the values it arose in & evolves according to social change.
-
From your perspective it is, many who have held ethos of religions as immutable for thousands of years would say otherwise.
-
People say all sorts of things. We can show them how much their religion has branched and evolved. Cant make them accept this. Egpic.twitter.com/JWjFPo9DFq
-
Or they can tell you how little it has changed, and they can't do much to make you accept it, and there is much esp ethically that hasn't.
-
They can show me & then I'd have to. It wld be hard tho. Evidence that Christianity today is v diff to late medieval one I study is immense
-

Most religions view ethics as innate, created, and given by those of a divine nature, making it authoritative because removed socially.
-
Yes, I know. That doesn't change the reality tho & we'd need to look at that when predicting what people will do.
-
Reality is not objective, it is subjective when it comes to matters of ethics, metaphysics etc. Basic Tao remains unchanged despite society
-
We have consistent moral foundations. Then we do things with them. Argue for different ways to apply them.
