I do understand where this guy is coming from in terms of a solid ethical foundation though, and socially derived ethics vs religious.

From the standpoint of the non-religious certainly, from that of the religious many would disagree especially the monotheistic.

They can do that. Nevertheless, religion is socially variable & reflects the values it arose in & evolves according to social change.

From your perspective it is, many who have held ethos of religions as immutable for thousands of years would say otherwise.

Or they can tell you how little it has changed, and they can't do much to make you accept it, and there is much esp ethically that hasn't.

They can show me & then I'd have to. It wld be hard tho. Evidence that Christianity today is v diff to late medieval one I study is immense
