Dear @thetimes @SianGriffiths6 Why's the hijab being sexualised? Yet it's ok for the same 5 year olds to have sex education lessions? 🤔pic.twitter.com/jXSZn1lgfz

What I don't get is, these sort of things are more of a personal matters for the families. Why do people interfere & make it their business!

A family is not a person. That's the point. A child is. The decision to subscribe to notions of modesty must be taken by the person.

That's what the religion itself says, that no one should be forced to! But when they're kids, let them wear what they want! It's not as bad

I agree to let them wear what they want. But not in schools. No-one else gets to. Needs to be practical, smart, non-sexual, uniform.

Its to do with sexual modesty. That is why liberal Muslims & Muslim feminists critique it. Gender specific too.

Hijaab is for females, so obviously it's going to be gender specific.

And why should schools in liberal societies support this idea of unequal modesty codes affecting girls too young to make that choice?

It's not just about modesty! I guess the school's would support their personal choice to wear it, allow them to follow their belief too.
