A family is not a person. That's the point. A child is. The decision to subscribe to notions of modesty must be taken by the person.

It would be reasonable for schools to make exceptions for good reasons to be wearing scarves in school. Cancer treatment. Very cold weather.

But 'because my religion says so (even if I've interpreted this as having nothing to do with modesty)' is not a good reason.

If you do not value someones religious views then thats totally upto you and your idea of democracy

I don't value religious views. I do defend religious freedom. This doesn't include making schools accommodate dodgy religious garb.

If you defended religious freedom, you wouldn't say you don't value religious views. Because you can't defend something you don't value!
