Dear @thetimes @SianGriffiths6
Why's the hijab being sexualised?
Yet it's ok for the same 5 year olds to have sex education lessions?

Precisely what im saying. They dont have to but if they do good on them. My point was the hypocrisy in the media portraying us as demons
No, not good on them. Little girls can stay little girls in schools. No make-up, no high-heels, no bloody modesty codes.
Well it comes down to why they're wearing it for it to be classed as a modesty code. I assure you its not for modesty reasons
OK, for you hijab is not to do with modesty. This is the common understanding of it tho. Still not part of the uniform.
It would be reasonable for schools to make exceptions for good reasons to be wearing scarves in school. Cancer treatment. Very cold weather.
But 'because my religion says so (even if I've interpreted this as having nothing to do with modesty)' is not a good reason.
If you do not value someones religious views then thats totally upto you and your idea of democracy
I don't value religious views. I do defend religious freedom. This doesn't include making schools accommodate dodgy religious garb.
Deal out of it. And then linked it with burka, that the people who jumped on the band wagon started having an issues! Otherwise, there are
Liberal Muslims have an issue. Muslim feminists do. They don't want gender-specific modesty codes to be normalised espec, for children.
The usual, shirt, jumper, or tie and blazer, etc. You don't see orthodox Sikh's having to not wear their turban or orthodox Jews not wearing
These aren't to do with gender-specific modesty. But schools could also require no religious garb quite reasonably & require uniform only.
New, it's not a newly found item that someone has geniusly come up with.
No one is Asking for them to adapt their uniform. People have been wearing the Hijaab alongside the school uniform for many years. Nothing
Many people who aren't as bothered as some. Why? Because they know what it is & what importance it is for the ones who wear it.
Adapted when they're wearing just a Hijaab. And until now, it didn't bother people! It wasn't until all the right wing gits that made a huge
Their Kippah, etc. Hijaab doesn't hide their face either. I can see some point in a Niqaab or something. But the school uniform isn't being
That's extra. So they're still wearing everything else the same! So it's not like they're changing anything else, like a burka instead of
They don't need to adapt their uniform! It's just a headscarf as such. It's just a Hijaab. They wear the regular uniform, just an Hijaab
