Dear @thetimes @SianGriffiths6
Why's the hijab being sexualised?
Yet it's ok for the same 5 year olds to have sex education lessions?

We can criticise all sexualisation of children & we do. It's just when its within Islam that well-meaning ppl try to make it respectable.
Hijab is worn due to it being a command of god. And if THEIR parents believe thats right for them then whats wrong with that.
You have the right to believe that. Schools don't have to adapt their uniforms to accommodate modesty ideas attributed to deities.
Precisely what im saying. They dont have to but if they do good on them. My point was the hypocrisy in the media portraying us as demons
No, not good on them. Little girls can stay little girls in schools. No make-up, no high-heels, no bloody modesty codes.
Well it comes down to why they're wearing it for it to be classed as a modesty code. I assure you its not for modesty reasons
OK, for you hijab is not to do with modesty. This is the common understanding of it tho. Still not part of the uniform.
It would be reasonable for schools to make exceptions for good reasons to be wearing scarves in school. Cancer treatment. Very cold weather.
But 'because my religion says so (even if I've interpreted this as having nothing to do with modesty)' is not a good reason.
