Dear @thetimes @SianGriffiths6
Why's the hijab being sexualised?
Yet it's ok for the same 5 year olds to have sex education lessions?

So I take it you believe children should also not be forced to wear school uniform, right? They are not our accessories.
No. Kids aren't intended to express their parents or their own values at school in their clothing. A standard can apply.
I would equally be opposed to an atheist making their child wear a spaghetti strainer and schools accommodating this. Dress appropriately.
The hijab has special significance tho coz it's connected to ideas of modesty. That is what the Muslim campaigners are opposing.
The symbolism of this & its cultural meaning. Little girls' bodies being presented as sexual objects to be covered.
No, they are not. It's usually to get them used to it for wearing when older. Nothing to do with sexualising little girls.
That's equally bad & goes against the idea that its a choice girls must make for themselves. And why wear it later? Gendered modesty ideals.
Wear this to get used to being sexualised as an adult. Should schools also allow make-up & high heels?
What if the children express a desire to wear the hijab? Honest question
Parents can decide if that's appropriate at home & schools can there. Same as with make-up, high heels, earrings etc.
& if schools are happy to accommodate?
Little girls who are too yng to know what they believe about God or understand sexuality will have adult concepts of modesty forced on them
You didn't answer my question. If kids happy, parents happy&schools are happy. What are we debating exactly
In the same vain do you agree on banning holy communion using your argument that they are too young to have 'religion forced on them' ?!
And liberal democracies hide under the guise of 'choice' but force their bullish opinions upon you, and how dare one disagree
You can disagree all you want. You just can't make schools help you enforce conservative & age-inappropriate religion on little children.
Oh please. Did your parents just dump you in a jungle so you could make your free and informed lifestyle choices!
My parents were OK with me being Christian despite them being atheists.
