Dear @thetimes @SianGriffiths6
Why's the hijab being sexualised?
Yet it's ok for the same 5 year olds to have sex education lessions?

Too many flaws in your logic. Think before you tweet lol
You're not saying anything.
I am saying that western society almost encourages pedofilia yet we muslims are accused of sexualising in so many regards not just this
We can criticise all sexualisation of children & we do. It's just when its within Islam that well-meaning ppl try to make it respectable.
Hijab is worn due to it being a command of god. And if THEIR parents believe thats right for them then whats wrong with that.
You have the right to believe that. Schools don't have to adapt their uniforms to accommodate modesty ideas attributed to deities.
Precisely what im saying. They dont have to but if they do good on them. My point was the hypocrisy in the media portraying us as demons
No, not good on them. Little girls can stay little girls in schools. No make-up, no high-heels, no bloody modesty codes.
Do they have an issue with a headscarf basically (the Hijaab). Yet, have no issues if they were to dress up as a jedi, ninja, etc, etc etc!?
They are not allowed to dress that way in schools either.
Wearing a hat/cap in the summer! It's the same principles for Hijaabi's. So if they can wear hat, then they should be OK with Hijaab.
Sure. They're not allowed to wear caps in class tho.
Maybe because it's not a religious attire. It's something they don't have to wear either way. But religious attire is different, of course.
No, its not. Religious ideas should not be privileged.
It's not a privilege for them. It's their way of life, their standard day to day (part of) clothing. Part of their belief, their identity.
And so are many non-religious ideas. So why should religious ones get preferential treatment?
That's what the religion itself says, that no one should be forced to! But when they're kids, let them wear what they want! It's not as bad
I agree to let them wear what they want. But not in schools. No-one else gets to. Needs to be practical, smart, non-sexual, uniform.
How is wearing a Hijaab sexualised!?? I mean what sort of utter idiotic BS am I reading from someone who sounds like they're educated.
Its to do with sexual modesty. That is why liberal Muslims & Muslim feminists critique it. Gender specific too.
You clearly don't understand besides the modesty side of it. Of its something that bothers you, how about asking people who wear it, if they
I do. I have. I support the liberal Muslims and ex-Muslims on this. Why should the schools support the conservatives?
