Happens all the time. People read a positive argument for X as a negative argument against what is not X. Crazy logic.

That is a logical assumption but focus often solely on 'You're attacking what is not X because you have hostile & harmful motivations'

And this bias is invariably underlain with the idea that only certain arguments can be made & that is what is truly dangerous.
