Nazism has been defeated on the level of ideas. 'Nazi' & 'Hitler' are common metaphors for evil.

Turns out if you just call it fascism and not Nazism, the victory is not so clearhttp://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-neo-nazi-support-american-public-charlottesville-white-supremacists-kkk-far-right-poll-a7907091.html?amp …

That fascism is growing in acceptability in the United States, demonstrating that civil debate has not succeeded?

The extreme authoritarian violent fringes have grown because civil debate has become devalued.

Civil debate went on for decades. The result? Donald Trump and Jeff Sessions. Charlottesville and 9% approval of fascism.

Yes, the threat to it is recent. Obama was very popular, very recently.

Yeah I hate religion as well. Religion is adaptable and cherry picked. Fascism is explicit and genocidal.

Then we can counter them. Its not acceptable for them to advocate violence because of it.

Have you spent any time trying to "counter" them? Because I have. They don't care about facts and logic. They want an ethnostate.

Sure. But their ideas can only be marginalised by addressing them. Not by banning their expression.

That can be done without giving them a platform to preach their insanity, is what you seem to be missing here.

They don't have a case. Fascism is not a reasonable ideology just like being a serial killer or slaver is not a reasonable ideology.
