I find it seldom does mean that. It usually means, 'You argue with other people's truth claims if you think they're wrong.' Well, yeah.

It's as tho it's virtuous to think everyone is equally right. It isn't. Virtuous to make best efforts to be right but be open to being wrong

From experience: when presented with "you always have to be right" in an argument, the reply "do you prefer being wrong?" doesn't help much.
