Being a centrist just means that you don't find absolutely everyone around you entirely unreasonable.

Yeah. Centre is descriptive of a position relative to societal norms. It doesn't say what they are & what they mean.

Neither of us would have centrist views if we lived in Pakistan but ppl who did have centrist ones there would understand people around them

So 'centrism' has limited usefulness and we're better off discussing the range of opinions we find acceptable & what links them ethically.

Agreed. Only useful as a shorthand if understanding at outset is that you're simply willing to find merit in principled, reasoned argument.
