16 days until this little person joins our pack. Can't wait. Miley needs him. The holiday cheered her up but she's still looking a bit lost.pic.twitter.com/6ejLqEvHwG

Lucy is beside herself with excitement and has started working out the waiting time in hours. Soon, it will be minutes.

Dave is pretending to be very calm and practical and matter of fact but he hasn't met him. When he does, his heart will melt completely.

My parents, who claimed to be too old to babysit any more boa constrictors suddenly find they've plenty of time & energy for a baby granddog

The cat, on the other hand... No! I'm sure even the cat's stony heart will be moved by this tiny Labrador puppy who is smaller than him.

He'll set aside his mission to make miserable the life of any dog who dares set paw inside his house &welcome him as a brother. Yes, he will

Cat is currently pretending to be casually sitting in the doorway for no particular reason but it's really to stop Miley coming in. Oh god.

Miley did perk up on holiday but back in the house without Prince, she just seems lost. He was there as long as she can remember.pic.twitter.com/jSWgX55CZi

When she arrived, she was a hyperactive teenage girl & he was an introverted middle-aged man. He was a bit shell-shocked, tbh.

He tolerated her pretty well with a bit of sighing & glaring & when she was really annoying, he'd march over, pick her ear up &drop it again

And then she'd know she'd gone too far & look penitent. For about an hour. But when she was scared, he'd lick her face & lean into her.

He was like the big brother who couldn't be doing with her shit most of the time but there when needed. Now, she'll have a little brother.

And she's calmed down a bit now she's middle-aged & will have to cope with a hyperactive puppy all over her.

If there was a doggy heaven, Prince would be looking down from it and smiling at the poetic justice.

Nero is black like his dad but his mum & grandma are brown Labradors & they've been caring for him so he might see Miley as a substitute.

I don't know how Miley will respond to a puppy asking to be mothered. She's never shown much maternal instinct but it's probably there.
