It's not even about autism though. Guys have generally internalised ENORMOUS social pressure to be the "approachers".

Men are conditioned from a very young age to understand that if they do not jump first, *nothing* will happen. And that's usually correct.

They can also learn nothing will happen if they approach women in certain ways in certain environments but this takes trial & error.
