.@PeterTatchell: Why @LondonLGBTPride must support Ex-Muslims. @CEMB_forum https://conatusnews.com/peter-tatchell-london-pride/ … @lblwcri @HPluckrose @saerahwrites
I'm not talking abt groups. I'm talking abt people seriously considering whether ppl can criticise Islam at Pride eg http://www.ex-muslim.org.uk/category/pressreleases/ …
-
-
Which people? People with platforms? People with sway? Or random internet folk? Or like the zeitgeist itself? How nebulous is this threat?
-
Pride is considering both arguments right now. It is a platform. It has sway.
-
Kay. Well I'm curious to see how that goes. If there are relativists they tend to do poorly in the marketplace of ideas.
-
Relativists are everywhere. 'Its OK for us but not for you' is a human tendency.Current ideas in leftism support this using power structures
-
Namely - 'Its OK to criticise/generalise about this group coz powerful but not this one coz oppressed minority.'
-
Hence, we get people defending poisoned candy analogies for men or for Muslim immigrants but very rarely both - relativism.

See that pride is debating whether this should be allowed. One faction says 'Yes, consistency!' One says 'No, vulnerable minority group!'
-
I really have to go and do some work but you can easily find other arguments on each side by searching or looking at Tweets to CEMB.
