It's interesting & strange the way so many people think that being told of average traits for a gender equates to pressure to conform to it.

I wish we could see cognitive & psychological gender differences in the same way as we see height differences. Unexceptional. Not loaded.

For women, anyway. Different for men, sadly. I'm 5 ft 9. The average height for men but in the 90th centile for women so not uncommon.

No-one gawps at me in the street or makes comments coz its known that whilst more men are this tall or taller, so are millions of women.

Of course, the difference is that society did have set gender roles & jobs for men & women for centuries & this was moralistic.

It was restrictive & it hasn't entirely gone away. Some social conservatives uphold the idea of 'natural roles' in a moralistic sense.

Others just notice trends & make assumptions based on them w/out having a moral commitment to them. Better not to make such assumptions.
