Convince me. Why should I leave the humanities & go into software engineering if I want to focus on how people think & feel?https://twitter.com/Ragnarork/status/894487396624072704 …

    2) "Unfortunately we can't make software engineering about people that much". (Which is wrong, software engineering is a lot about people).

Not buying this 'Engineering is all abt people coz you have to talk to people abt engineering.' Still seems to involve a lot of engineering

Then please do research about engineering. At its core, it's solving someone's problem. The engineering part is just the tool to do that.

Almost every job solves a problem at its core. To be an engineer you still need to be good at the tool of engineering.

But much more of the difference seems to be in relation to different interests to a greater degree than different aptitudes.

Yes. Then the question is where do the differences in interest come from. So much on a monday morning.

Please note that I agree that interest should be the primary deciding factor. At not point I'm forcing anyone to choose a specific path.

I don't have to convince you of that, that's your choice. Women that want to do engineering shouldn't have to deal with such barriers tho.

the phase of Analysis&Design is about imagining yourself as the final user and how would you use the software, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Use_case

if you want to create software that helps people you could specialize on this phase...it would be like creating "tools" to solve problems...

you may find this more interesting than the coding and the architecture although it involves endless amount of documentation; also the money
