Most times I hear illiberal it's to describe somebody who thinks they're liberal but acts illiberally. No one says it's a political stance?

I think people do say it's a political stance! Particularly in America where it is seen as the opposition to conservatism.

Ah well I'm in the UK so don't really hear that. Seems a strange thing to say, I'm sure no one identifies as illiberal?
