I have a personal moral objection to abortion. I don't want my tax dollars helping fund it. But I also object to intrusive govt.

I thought so. I have the same emotional reaction because I thought of my foetuses as babies. Don't think the government intrudes tho.

A lot of religious conservatives here want to outlaw it and use legislative slights of hand to do so. They also try to cut social programs.

I know. I see your motivations are different. You don't want to feel complicit in it by helping fund it & wld rather help support families?

I think this is still a mistake based on a emotional response coz in reality, abortion has same effect as contraception for potential child.

I disagree. Contraceptions prevent pregnancy. I see that completely different from terminating one.

Yes, but not for the potential child. You'd be equally non-existent if your parents had used contraception or aborted you at 8 weeks.

I believe an unborn child is still a child and a human being. Even if not yet viable or aware.

I know. I feel that too. But it is a belief - a feeling - and not a fact.

This is such a weird conversation for me to be having when I'm due to be a father for the first time in under two weeks.
