You don't have to commit to a truth claim 'X does not exist' to lack belief in X. Just not given reason to believe yet.

Yeah, the common straw man is that atheists dogmatically believe God doesn't exist but one can never have heard of 'God' and be an atheist.

Yeah but usually ppl are talking about those who call themselves atheists or say that they don't believe in God.
