They convey what gender the person feels they are. You don't have to find it useful if you really want to know what genitals they have.
I'm talking about a perspective - that of the current treatment of gender dysphoria by transitioning. I know that very many others disagree.

Yes, but this is the language of it. The body is the problem. They don't say 'We'll do this coz we can't fix your brain.'

My daughter is an anthropologist who wrote a paper on the language arnd it & the incompatibility of it with mental disorders for this reason
