If you can read a comment or attitude as other than sexist or racist, I do think it is better to do that & not simply for reasons of charity

Also for the purpose of giving genuine racists & sexists enough rope to hang themselves.

If you jump on the first hint of a racist or sexist or homophobic attitude, the individual can retreat into plausible deniability.

But if you assume that this is not what they meant & are receptive to them explaining themselves further, clear attitudes will emerge.

And it will be much easier then to show the problem with them if there is one & also to gauge the extent of it & best way to respond.

Really good. Also works with advocates of proletariat revolution, always fun to see answer to "how will you achieve that without violence?"

I've seen "[human] collateral damage is necessary [for socialism]" recently. Yet they complain about US airstrikes in Iraq, Syria, etc.

I've seen much worse, but always important to make them flesh it out, then all pretense is gone & everybody knows what is being really said

Yeah, it's tame. It's sad they feel no shame for it and have support. Violence and death are accepted as non-objectionable side effects. 😐

This is a big red flag to me and I find it shocking that there are people who have no problem with 'human sacrifice' for 'the greater good'.

The problem with Muslims is that they are encouraged to lie if necessary to protect their faith. Luckily there's lots of damning scripture.
