Men as Likely to be Harassed Online as Women. Gender differences most profound in perception &attitude @CathyYoung63http://reason.com/archives/2017/07/18/men-as-likely-to-be-harassed-online-as-w/ …
'Not feeling welcome to sphere b/c of gender' is v subjective & I've become sceptical due to things ppl have said make them feel unwelcome
-
-
A scientist wearing a shirt with cartoon women on it was most extreme example of something that makes women feel unwelcome in science.
-
Others include risque jokes, competitive work environments, perceptions of being undervalued due to gender which are far from conclusive.
-
I've known one friend to be surrounded by a particular group of young men who were very sexist in a work environment so I know it happens.
-
But it was taken very seriously by management when she got email evidence of this. Mass firings occurred.
-
Ironically, that same group reported her for Islamophobia for simply saying she wouldn't like to wear a hijab when they were advocating it.
-
Then she got an warning about cultural sensitivity. We've not got the balance quite right but on the whole, think we're doing quite well.

Maybe, although you are likely to be harassed on account of your gender if you enter political debate & may decide to avoid them.
-
I know very many men who find it almost impossible to discuss social justice issues w/out such targetted gender-based harassment.

I don't think anyone is denying this. I have now lost track of where this conversation is going.
