I am mildly interested & pleased that the new Doctor is a woman. Probably not enough to watch it. In case you cared.

The doctor being an alien, this sex switch can work, but it's a shame they aren't a bit more creative and develop new female characters.

Rather that coopt existing ones. However, if they have a good story arc, I'm all for it.

River was a good play that hadn't been done before. They've had some good actresses in recent years but squandered though poor plot.
-
They've had excellent actresses. Missy worked very well, but her character was different to the Master. Equally evil, but in a different way
-
They'll have to do the same with the new doctor. Equally good and equally flawed and equally ruthless, but in a feminine way.
-
What we don't want, and what I believe could happen, is them making the doctor "more good" because she's a woman and critical of masculinity
-
Which is what they did in the finale of the previous season when the old white man regen into black woman "All that ego"
