My daughter has always loved it when lead characters are female. Kids seem to do identity politics naturally. They're working out their own.

I think that's normal & healthy. It's when you don't grow out of it & continue focusing intensely on identity that we have a problem.
-
The doctor being an alien, this sex switch can work, but it's a shame they aren't a bit more creative and develop new female characters.

-
Rather that coopt existing ones. However, if they have a good story arc, I'm all for it.
-
River was a good play that hadn't been done before. They've had some good actresses in recent years but squandered though poor plot.
-
They've had excellent actresses. Missy worked very well, but her character was different to the Master. Equally evil, but in a different way
-
They'll have to do the same with the new doctor. Equally good and equally flawed and equally ruthless, but in a feminine way.
-
What we don't want, and what I believe could happen, is them making the doctor "more good" because she's a woman and critical of masculinity

Far too many comments of "YES! In your face white men", and "Great, but when will WOC be represented?". Tiresome.
